Monkton Junior School was suffering from extensive structural issues throughout the building’s fabric. The main area of concern was the impact that the unsupported roof structure would have on the existing non-load bearing PVC-u window frames to several elevations. This was a major health & safety issue and if it were to be left in its existing condition then the school would have had to temporarily close due to the risk of structural collapse.

Stratus9 Consulting identified this issue whilst undertaking a Condition Survey of the school site and advised the school on the design solution and required works to remediate the structural issues.

Stratus9’s experienced building surveyors assisted the school from the outset designing the required works and appointing a main contractor to undertake the construction. The project was undertaken over the Summer Holiday period with an intensive 6-week program. Stratus9 controlled all aspects of the project from inception to completion with the project coming in under budget and finishing on-time.

The school are now free to work in a safe building with no concerns of any structural or health & safety breaches.
