VICTORIA PRIMARY SCHOOL

As Nurture Academies Trust’s appointed consultants, Stratus9 Consulting Limited undertook a review of the Trust’s building estate. After a comprehensive survey it became apparent that urgent fire safety upgrades were required within Victoria Primary School. If the school were to be left in its original state it would not meet fire safety standards or modern-day Building Regulations.

The building was constructed in the late 1990’s with the original doors and frames starting to show signs of extensive wear and tear due to their age. It was noted upon inspection that majority of the doors had non-compliant gaps, failed smoke seals, which would allow the unabated spread of smoke and heat in the event of a fire.

Most of the doors were past their serviceable life with them not self-closing, having damaged smoke seals and non-fire rated surrounds. With the help of Stratus9’s experienced project management and building surveying team the project was procured and delivered on-time and within budget.

The school now benefits from a fire complaint building with the latest in fire door technology. Along with the fire compliant doors, screens and compartmentation lines the school’s aesthetic appearance has improved exponentially.
