PARKWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL

Stratus9 Consulting Limited was appointed to review the Nurture Academy Trust’s building estate. Following a comprehensive review of the estate portfolio it became evident that urgent fire safety compliance upgrades were required within Parkwood Primary School, which if left unchecked would have introduced risks to life safety in the event of a fire.

The school was constructed in the late 1800’s, with extensions added in subsequent years. The fire doors within both school blocks were old, worn and well in excess of 50 years old. In a very poor state of repair, these doors were beyond their useable life, which was evident through the ongoing issues with non-functional and severely damaged/deteriorated door fabric. The doors would have provided little to no protection from the spread of flames, smoke and heat in the event of a fire. These material non-compliances were causing significant Health & Safety issues, along with providing inadequate protection to the building structure.

With the help of Stratus9 the school now benefits from fully certified fire doors that are visually modern yet in keeping with the aesthetic of the school. The project was completed on budget and has provided added value through an enhanced visual appearance which benefit pupils, staff, and visitors.
