BOLTON ST CATHERINE’S ACADEMY

Following the successful completion of their PLB Suite construction, Bolton St Catherine’s Academy appointed Stratus9 Consulting to design and manage the refurbishment of their first-floor conservatory into a functional classroom space. This would enable the school to achieve their ever-increasing demand for space and provide the children with the best facilities possible for their education.

It was apparent that the existing conservatory was incredibly cold during winter and uncomfortably hot during summer. The control of lighting levels was poor due to the existing polycarbonate conservatory roof and it was prone to water ingress that was getting progressively worse as time went on.

With this in mind, Stratus9 worked closely with the school in the design and management of the demolition of the conservatory and undertaking in its replacement with a traditional build classroom, in keeping with the surrounding building. Despite the arrival of COVID-19, works progressed at a steady pace and the school now benefits from access to a large teaching room that meets their key requirements, the students can learn in a warm, dry and safe environment.
