As part of their strategic plan, the MAST Academy Trust appointed their professional consultants, Stratus9 Consulting, to review Scissett Middle School’s building fabric to understand the maintenance and compliance liabilities.
After a comprehensive review of the school’s building stock, and as typical of schools of this era, there was a lack of fire compliant doors, frames and compartmentation throughout the school. If left unchecked, these issues would introduce unacceptable risks in the event of a fire.
Following on from their review Stratus9 compiled a comprehensive Condition Improvement Funding Application (CIF) to upgrade Scissett Middle School’s fire doors and other key fire safety elements.
The CIF application was successful with the school being awarded grant funding for the project. Stratus9 managed the process from inception to completion procuring, designing, and delivering the project on-time and within budget for the client.
The school now benefits from fully compliant fire doors and screens along with a more modern contemporary appearance throughout.
