BOLTON ST CATHERINE’S ACADEMY

The senior education leaders at the school care deeply for the progression and development of all their pupils. Professionally the school is well positioned to educate pupils with behavioural difficulties, but they quickly discovered that their facilities were not. Disruptive pupils were causing issues school wide impacting the education of others as well and their own. It Is paramount that all pupils benefit from attending school and leave with the qualifications they deserve so they were determined to fund work to help this cause.

Stratus9 were engaged and the brief was discussed in detail. After appraising the existing site, Stratus9 were able to design a PLB Suite within a forgotten corner of the school which was being used for storage. Stratus9 quickly understood the need and were able to use their extensive education experience to detail a space that provided a separate entrance, three teaching spaces and male and female toilets.

The new PLB Suite was constructed to the same high specification as the rest of the relatively new build school and provide a safe and calming learning environment for their most vulnerable pupils. This benefits all involved with staff being able to better manage their classes and pupils gaining more from attending school.

The impact of the new teaching rooms has been huge and the pupils and teachers’ school wide continue to feel the benefit.
